Roll width is one of the easiest details to underestimate when buying PP/PE woven tarpaulin roll material. A roll can look correct by GSM and color, but still create waste if it does not match the buyer-side cutting layout.

This guide is for buyers using tarpaulin conversion fabric rolls, truck cover tarpaulin fabric rolls or heavy-duty outdoor cargo cover rolls. We supply roll material. Finished cover cutting, sewing, welding and eyelet work should be handled by the buyer or converter.

Why roll width affects real cost

Roll price is only one part of sourcing. If the width is poorly planned, the converter may need extra seams, extra trimming, more handling time or more leftover material.

Truck cover and cargo cover planning

For truck covers, roll width should be reviewed together with truck body size, cover drop, overlap and fastening method. If the buyer will make lorry covers, flatbed cargo covers or transport rain covers, compare the truck cover tarpaulin fabric roll buying guide before placing a bulk order.

For oversized cargo covers, the buyer may need wider panels or fewer seams. See PE laminated tarpaulin roll for outdoor cargo protection for heavier-duty projects.

Color-specific roll options

Width planning should be done before choosing final color and coating. Common roll options include:

For color selection, read the blue, green or gray tarpaulin roll color guide.

Packing and loading should be planned together

Changing roll width can change roll diameter, roll weight and container loading. Before the order is finalized, review export packing methods for woven fabric rolls and test the estimate with the container loading calculator.

What to send for width review

Send the target finished cover size, conversion method, required roll width, GSM, coating, color, roll length, packing method and destination port. If available, include a cutting layout or finished cover drawing.
